            EDUPEDIYA – HOW TO BECOME A PILOT (PART 1 )


INTRODUCTION:

Ø An aircraft pilot or aviator is a person who is assigned to operate aircraft in order to transport passengers and goods from one location to another. It depends on area of the industry and aircraft used on the pilot’s specialization.       

 WAYS TO BECOME PILOT:

There are two ways to become a pilot in India, they are

1.    BY OBTAINING A COMMERCIAL PILOT LICENSE [CPL]

2.    BY BECOMING A PILOT IN THE INDIAN AIR FORCE [IAF]

How to become a COMMERCIAL PILOT after higher secondary:

ü  The candidate must be 12th grader passed with subject math, physics and chemistry.  

ü Medical fitness of a commercial pilot: one eye should have perfect eye sight [6/6] and other eye should have defects but it should be correctable.  

ü Should not have any mental illness.

 SELECTION PROCESS:

Selection process is collectively known as pilot aptitude test which consist of

Ø WRITTEN EXAMINATION

Ø PILOT APTITUDE TEST

Ø PERSONAL INTERVIEW and DGCA MEDICAL EXAMINATION 

After clearing these rounds you will get seat in CPTI

Training process:

v Ab initio CPL training[ no prior flying experience]

v Entire course duration 15- 18 months.

v Should complete 200 hours of flight time to become a commercial pilot [these hours include instrument time flight by time and pilot in command].

Commercial pilot license:

v Apply for DGCA exam you must clear it with 70% to secure CPL.

v Air transport pilot license [ATPL] need to have fly time of 1500 hrs.
